Certification of Electronic Payment Terminals

Payment terminal is a device that handles transactions between an EMV chip card (such as MasterCard or Visa) and the card issuer. On the market there are several types of payment terminals which all have one thing in common: they need to be certified to make sure they are function correctly, are safe and comply with the requirements set by card issuers (credit card companies like Visa).

Certification includes testing the entire chain from the payment terminal/point-of-sale system through acquirer to the card issuer. The certification procedure comprises of two stages: it is carried out by first applying for certification from an authorized laboratory and then for certification carried out by Blue Fintech Consultant. All certifications are handled based on the rules set by EMVCo, a global organization that manages, maintains and enhances the global EMV® standard. EMVCo is currently owned by American Express, JCB, MasterCard and Visa.
